The examples in this directory are runnable against doctest.  (run.py will do this)

The files are:

    basic_examples.txt     -- non-specifier examples
    basic_errors.txt       -- non-specifier exception testion
    basic_torture.txt      -- non-specifier corner-case testing

XXX -- should probably add different files for specifier_examples and specifier_errors
